Calculate Your Due Date

Select the first day of your most recent period

Most cycles are between 24-32 days. Adjust this if your cycle is shorter or longer.

How The Due Date Calculator Works

Calculation Methods

Our due date calculator uses two scientifically established methods to determine your estimated due date:

Naegele's Rule (LMP Method)

This is the most common method used by healthcare providers worldwide. The formula is:

(First day of LMP) + 280 days (40 weeks)

If your cycle is longer or shorter than 28 days, the calculator adjusts by adding or subtracting days accordingly.

Conception Date Method

If you know your conception date (or IVF transfer date), we use this formula:

(Conception date) + 266 days (38 weeks)

This method can be more accurate if you know exactly when conception occurred.

Pregnancy Timeline Calculation

1 Gestational Age Calculation

Once you input your information, we calculate your current gestational age by determining the difference between today's date and the first day of your last period (or adding 14 days to the conception date).

Gestational Age = Today's Date - First Day of LMP

This is displayed in weeks and days, which is how healthcare providers track pregnancy progress.

Trimester 1: Weeks 1-12
Trimester 2: Weeks 13-27
Trimester 3: Weeks 28-40+

Each trimester represents distinct developmental stages of your pregnancy.

2 Trimester Determination

Based on the calculated gestational age, we determine which trimester you're currently in and provide relevant information about this stage of pregnancy.

3 Pregnancy Progress Calculation

We calculate your pregnancy progress as a percentage by dividing your current gestational age by 40 weeks (the typical pregnancy duration) and multiplying by 100.

Progress % = (Current Weeks / 40) × 100

This gives you a visual representation of how far along you are in your pregnancy journey.

About This Calculator

This due date calculator uses Naegele's rule to estimate when your baby will be born. It calculates your estimated due date based on your last menstrual period (LMP) or conception date.

How It Works:

  • LMP Method: Adds 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period, with adjustments for cycle length.
  • Conception Method: Adds 266 days (38 weeks) to your conception date.

Important Notes

  • This calculator provides an estimate only. Only about 5% of babies are born on their exact due date.
  • A normal pregnancy can range from 37-42 weeks.
  • Your healthcare provider may adjust your due date based on ultrasound measurements.
  • If you have irregular periods, the LMP method may be less accurate.
  • This calculator does not account for leap years but the difference is minimal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my due date the same as my conception date?

No. Your due date is typically about 40 weeks from the first day of your last period, or about 38 weeks from conception.

Why do doctors use LMP to calculate due date?

Most women know when their last period started, but may not know when conception occurred. LMP provides a consistent starting point.

How accurate is this calculator?

This calculator gives a good estimate, but only about 5% of babies are born exactly on their due date. Most are born within a week of it.
